James “Poppy” Leo Terrell, age 82, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was born in Rockford, Illinois on December 24, 1941 to Roy Terrell. He married the love of his life, Carol Terrell on February 18, 1972 and they were married for 41 wonderful years before she preceded him in death. Poppy worked as a warehouse employee at Amerock until his retirement.
Poppy enjoyed sitting and watching TV, especially NASCAR. He loved going out with his friends to eat.
He is survived by his children; Doug (Alta) Dawson, Pam (Kim) Rundle, and Tina (Sam) Lansely; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Terrell; his parents; siblings Dana Clauson, and Tom Terrell; and his longtime caretaker, Drew.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
A celebration of life for Poppy will be held at a later date.
