Genevieve was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1940. A graduate of East High School in 1944. Genevieve married Edward Vernon Hoffman on December 11, 1944. She worked as a secretary at Burson Knitting while Edward went off to war. In later years she was secretary at Ingersol, Swedish American Hospital and retired from Dorhn Transfer. She was deeply cherished and loved by her family and all who knew her. May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Edward V. Hoffman, father and mother Wilbur and Ida May Bumbard, sister Laura Emery, son Edward V. Hoffman,Jr and daughter Eloise (Dawn) Lovell.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters Phyllis (Terry) Bishop and Betty Dant; son Vernon Hoffman; six granddaughters; three grandsons; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons as well as other extended family.
A service to celebrate Genevieve’s life will be 1:00 pm Saturday February 11, 2017 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 West State St. in Rockford with a visitation from 12:00 pm until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Machesney Park.
