Ernest W. Osborne Jr.

Ernest W. Osborne, Jr., 76 of Rockford passed away April 17, 2014. Born March 16, 1938 in Rockford, he was the son of Ernest and Virginia (Peterson) Osborne, Sr. He married Valery A. Nygren February 23, 1957 in Rockford.

A U.S. Navy Veteran, Ernest attended East High School. He retired from construction and was a member of Local 792 Carpenters Union.

A true Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, Ernest enjoyed fishing vacations up north with his family and watching John Wayne movies.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Valery Osborne; daughter, Susan (Roy) Whittaker; sons, Kenneth (Vicky), Donald (Holly), Robert, and James (Jessica) Osborne; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, son, Michael; grandson, Jacob; brother and sisters.

Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with Father William R. Wentink officiating. Visitation 1 p.m. until time of service.
