Edward Francis Faherty, of Shirland, the son of Elizabeth Brown Faherty and William Faherty. Born in Hannibal, Missouri, home of Mark Twain. Ed passed away October 8, 2023. For 43 years, Ed was employed at Atwood Vacuum Machine Co. as a machinist and tool and die maker.
He loved being outdoors, cross country skiing, and hiking with son Mark. He also enjoyed canoeing the Boundary Waters with Mark, Mark’s friends, and especially Ed’s friend, Martin Kehoe. He liked softball, but his favorite sport was bowling. He was the father that would play tea party with daughter, Jody. He would scuba dive with her and Mark as they grew into teens. He was just one of the kids when it presented the opportunity. Everyone always said “He’s such a nice guy”, and we hope God recognizes that attribute.
A special thanks to our special friend Linda Hutson for the unswerving support and comfort she has given Ed and his family.
He was predeceased by parents, Elizabeth and William Faherty; siblings, and siblings-in-law, Fern (Charles) Mitchell, Evelyn Faherty, William Jr. (Betsy) Faherty, Jim (Sandy) Faherty, Roy Thayer, Glen Marlow, Don Minnick, and Diane Faherty.
Survived by wife, Nancy Faherty; daughter, Jody (Joe) Burks; son, Mark Faherty; grandchildren, Marshall, Eli, and Daniel Faherty; siblings, and siblings-in-law, Joan Thayer, Pat Marlow, Linda Minnick, Mike Faherty, and Bob (Elaine) Faherty.
