Donald James Martin, 49, of Rockford passed away at 5:30 am Friday May 24, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Donald was born on February 1, 1964 at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, the son of Reva Pierce Martin.
Donald graduated from Jefferson High School; he participated in Boy Scouts of America, earning the honor of Eagle Scout.
Donald is survived by sons: Dustin (Randi Opsahl) Aughenbaugh, Nate Martin and Chris Martin, their mother Teri Martin; Uncle Murray and Aunt Mickey Huffman; special friends include Jeremiah Griffin, Jeff and his son Deveyn Curtis, Steve and Char Scamihorn, Bill and Kathy Hughes.
Donald was predeceased in death by his mother Reva Martin and his grandfather James Pierce.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
A visitation to celebrate Donald’s life will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday May 29, 2013 at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State St. in Rockford, a service will follow the visitation.
