Donald R. Magill, Jr., 75, of Belvidere, IL, passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, March 26, 2022. He was born January 26, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the son of Donald R. and Florence Magill. Don loved to fly airplanes and solo’d his first flight on his 16th birthday. He served in the aviation wing of the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Francisco where he worked as an aerographer and developed a keen interest in the weather. Following his honorable discharge, he worked with his father as a charter pilot, a source of many of his most interesting stories. He went on to found Magill Consultants, a computer networking company, and then worked as a quality manager for many years. Donald enjoyed traveling, racing his car at Blackhawk Farms, working on hobby cars, and talking about politics. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
Donald is loved and missed by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen; children, Donald R. Magill III and Meghan (Aaron) Bell; sister, Antoinette; cousin, Robert C. Magill, Jr.; nieces, Donna, Elizabeth (Mark), Amanda (Brad); nephews, Kyle (Madeline) and Conner (fiance Lauren); sister-in-laws, Patricia (Lawrence) and Maureen (Richard); as well as many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
