Diane Huske of Norridge, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022. She was 84 years old. She was born May 1, 1938 to James Carney and Ann Sophia Ingvalsen. In 1967, Diane married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” H. Huske, who preceded her in death in 2015. They were married for 48 years.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Kelli Anem (Danny) Cornett and sons, Brett Richard (Katherine) Huske, Brian Jay (Dee) Huske; her grandchildren, Brianna Kyrstyn Wills, Dakota Ray Cornett, Derek John (Melissa) Cornett, Taylor Brettman Huske, McCall Leigh Huske and Madison Diane Huske; and great-grandchildren, Danielle and David Cornett.
Diane had an exciting career at WGN radio in Chicago, serving as Bob Collins executive assistant. Nicknamed “Gabby” for her gift to talk with anyone that was being interviewed, she held a dear spot in the heart of the WGN staff. Diane had many friends and loved playing cards and games. She also loved animals, especially her cat Pewter. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and she loved to travel.
Diane attended Acacia Park Lutheran Church in Norridge, IL. When asked what was most important in her life, she did not hesitate to say “love.” She felt much love from her family and friends. In a recent conversation with family members, she said “You’ve got to have God in your life, then you won’t be afraid of dying. I know where I’m going and when I get to heaven God will say ‘Diane! I’ve been waiting for you. Welcome Home!’”
Memorial service for Diane Huske will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Acacia Park Lutheran Church, 4307 Oriole Ave, Norridge, IL 60706. There will be a catered lunch following the service in the church’s basement. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PAWS Humane Society, Rockford. Animal rescue was very important to my mom.
