David L. Schultz, 68, of Rockford, IL passed away on November 14, 2022 in La Vista, NE after a short illness. He was born in Rockford, IL on June 9, 1954 to Gerald and Dorothy (Uren) Schultz. David graduated from West High School in 1972. He worked for Valspar Paint Co and Arachnid, Inc., as a tournament director and sales rep until retiring in 2020. He began working for Arachnid in 1988, driving across the nation for qualifying regionals. He often ran or assisted in many state and large tournaments. Averaging 32 weeks a year on the road, and 25 years as tournament director. Dave met and made many friends and had many memorable times that he shared with countless dart players. He started playing darts in 1981 with encouragement from his sister, Nancy. David received his first dart trophy in 1984 at the TBI open where he placed 3rd. His last year playing in leagues was in 1988 and his team went on to win the master’s league that year. He enjoyed golfing and with all of his traveling, he was able to play at some of the best courses in the U.S. David was an avid Green Bay Packer and New York Yankees fan as well. David is greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
David is survived by his sister, Nancy Hodges; special friends, Laurie Breit; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Dorothy; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Helen Uren; and his paternal grandparents, Herman and Anna Schultz.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2022 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL, with a burial to follow at Willwood Burial Park. A celebration of life will be held at 12 Noon after the burial at Savoy Lounge, 3929 Broadway, Suite 14, Rockford, IL 61108.
