Charlotte “Char” M. Smith, 72, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, December 9, 2023. Charlotte was born on October 2, 1951, in Sterling, IL to Vernon and Irene (Murphy) Williams. Shortly after graduating from West High in Rockford, she married the love of her life, Dale Smith, who preceded her in death in 2002.
Char enjoyed traveling whenever the opportunity presented herself. Above all else, she loved spending time with the children in her family. She also loved coloring, painting birdhouses, and crafting with her special niece, Toni. Her sense of humor was sassy and sarcastic, which was a family trait.
She is survived by special daughter and niece, Toni Lowery; siblings, Don, Mike, and Robin; stepdaughters, Denise, Natalie, and Colleen; special daughter, Katie; special great-great nephew, Isaiah; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband, Dale; parents, Vernon and Irene; siblings, Bill, Dave, June, Joyce, Jim, Ethel, Ken, Janet, and Johnny.
