Carol Ann Patterson

Carol A. Patterson, 78, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, January 25, 2023 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born January 15, 1945 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Alford and Julia (Miller) Smock. Carol married her sweetheart, William “Bill” Patterson on February 14, 1976. She was a proclaimed domestic engineer who deeply cared for her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows and fishing in her spare time. She adored her cat, Precious. Carol loved watching butterflies, cardinals and humming birds.

Carol is loved and missed by her daughter, Julie Messenger; special friend of over 40 years, Colleen Stoller; grandchildren, Brandon (Kiara) Swenson, Jace Messenger, Jessica (Ryan) Sparh; 5 great-grandchildren, Eli, Grim, Brycen, Oliver, and Lillyana; sister, Marilyn (John) Greer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bill.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
