Bob J. Bennett, 93, passed away on January 12, 2025 in South Beloit, Illinois. Bob was born in Greenville, Texas on July 12, 1931. Bob attended Greenville schools until the age of 17, when he left Texas for opportunities elsewhere. He was a travelling salesman in several states before working in a bakery in Nebraska, then moving around some more before meeting his first wife (Jo Ann) in Arkansas. They moved to Illinois, where they raised 3 children. He remarried (Vickie Sanderson) and he had another son (Wesley).
Bob is survived by his daughter and son, Linnea Bennett and Wesley Bennett (Lisa), and his grandchildren, Corina Livingston-Comer (Steven), Nathan Porter, Jacob Porter (Abby), and Alex Coletta (Dolly), several great-grandchildren, as well as sisters Pansy Wilson and Doris Collie.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, his beloved daughter and son, Tracey Porter and Gary Bennett, and grandson Joe Coletta.
Bob had a great sense of humor and loved making jokes and making others feel at ease.
He was devoted to his grandson Nathan, and was grateful for the great care he receives at Walter Lawson Children’s Home in Loves Park, IL. Bob spent many hours at the Home, and everyone there knows his name and will remember his smile.
Bob will be cremated and there will be no service; however, you may leave a memory below on Bob's tribute page.
