Born and raised in Rockford, she met Ray at Free Sewing and they were married in 1948. Betty worked as an accounting assistant at BVR where she retired.
Betty will be remembered for her love of sports, especially the Chicago Bears and Cubs; her running, which she took up as a habit in her later years, conquering many marathons, half-marathons and other races!
She was strong-willed, progressive in her ways, incredibly smart, and so devoted to her family. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her two sons, Tom (Betsy) and Tim; three granddaughters, Jessie (Austin), Maggie (Nick), and Kelsie; and four great grandchildren, Kellen, Ellie, Marin and Evan.
She was predeceased by her husband, F. Ray Oswald; mother, Margaret McConoghey; brother, Michael McConoghey.
At the request of Betty, a private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation. Online condolences may be submitted at advantagerockford.com
