Alvin D. Cash, 82, of Belvidere was welcomed into Heaven’s Gates on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at OSF Hospital. Born April 9, 1936 in Rockford, the son of William and Marian (Kahler) Cash. Alvin married Lois Jean LaFranka on April 24, 1965 in Rockford. Alvin and Lois adopted Deborah Ann at the age of 14 days old. Alvin worked most of his life at Roper Whitney until their closing, then part time at Menards until retiring. Alvin was a quiet man but jokester. His sister remembers Monopoly games that would last for hours. Alvin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Jean; daughter Deborah Gienapp of Cameron, Missouri; granddaughter Amoira, grandson Nicholas, and four great-grandchildren; 7 sisters: Verna Beach of Loves Park, Alice (Ray) Mangrum of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Lois (George) Tillett of Roscoe, Karen (Tom) Hansford of Rockford, Cheryl Goecke of Loves Park, Norma (Harold) Johnson of Loves Park, and Kathy Cash of Belvidere. 3 brothers: Darrell (Linda) Cash of Mount Morris, Richard Cash of Roscoe, and William Cash of Roscoe; Alvin is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by his parents, 1 sister Ethel, and 2 brothers LaMar and Donald.
Visitation for Alvin will be Monday, July 16, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Advantage Funeral Home 7000 W. State Street in Rockford; graveside services will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Advantage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
