Albert “Al” S. Dittman, 89, lifelong resident of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in the comfort of his home with family. Albert enjoyed 64 years of marriage to Cecilia Adams, of Alden-Hebron. Albert graduated from Rockford East High School in the Class of 1947.
Albert was a skilled toolmaker working at various area companies such as Barber Coleman, National Lock, Estwing and LSP. His love for this profession compelled him to work until he was 80 years old. Important to Albert were people. He enjoyed his friends and family. He loved to tell a good story or funny joke. He enjoyed music, sharing his talents by playing the ukulele, clarinet or piano. He had a tender heart for all animals, and especially enjoyed feeding backyard birds.
Albert was born on July 14, 1928 to Albert and Mae (Edwards) Dittman Sr. He is survived by: wife, Cecelia; children, Laurie (Paul) Fowler, Bradley (Jesse) Dittman, Carl (Patricia) Dittman; 4 grandchildren; 10, great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Carl Dittman.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, at Willwood Burial Park 7000 W. State St. Rockford, IL.
