Duane was born on September 26, 1923 in Hooppole, IL, the son of Robert and Ida Mae (Bacon) Schultz. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the European theater of operations. He married Lois Giles on June 16, 1949 in New Boston, IL.
Duane worked for many years as an over the road truck driver for numerous companies, and also worked as a diesel mechanic fixing trucks. Following this, he worked locally for several years as a security guard. In his free time, Duane enjoyed fishing, puttering around in the garage, and fixing just about anything. He was also a participant in the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities in 2010, which was an experience he enjoyed greatly.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Lois, Rock Island; daughter, Suzanne (Rick) Franck, Cambridge, IL; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Yolanda) Vollstedt, Seattle, WA.
Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Aldeane Schryver, and Leola Rudiger, and a brother, William Schultz.
