Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday at South Park Presbyterian Church, 1501 30th Street, Rock Island. Entombment will follow at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. The former Corinne Chandler was born September 1, 1913 in Mercer County, IL, the daughter of the late George and Nellie (Johnson) Chandler. She married Richard Greer on February 29, 1936 in Seaton, IL. They resided in Aledo, IL and Rock Island until their retirement in 1975 when they moved to Horseshoe Bend, AR. Richard, Corporate Secretary of the former Dohrn Transfer Company, passed away on March 1, 1984 in Arkansas.
Corinne moved back to Rock Island in October of 1985. While in Arkansas she was active in Faith Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder, President of the Women’s Association, and other church committees. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Group, the Illinois Club, the Lady Shriners, the local AARP chapter, the Horseshoe Benders Square Dance Club, the women’s horseshoe pitching group, and other social affairs. She was a former member of the D.A.R. and was a 50 year member of Sisters of Charity Eastern Star Chapter in Seaton.
She was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, and their Circle of Grace group. In Rock Island, she did volunteer work for the Cancer Society and enjoyed china painting, crocheting, square dancing, bowling, and hiking.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Roger McKee, Rock Island; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and 8 step great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Rosamond Merideth, Alpha, IL, and Harriet and John Keilman, Sequim, WA; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and many friends.
In addition to her husband, her parents, a daughter, Janice Marsh, and 2 grandchildren preceded Mrs. Greer in death.
