Velma L. Bonzo, 93 of New Sewickley Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. She was born March 24, 1926 in Sheffield Community of Aliquippa, daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Marshal) McIntosh.
She was a Chartered Member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church, which celebrated its 65th Anniversary in the summer of 2018. Velma was a faithful and active participant in the life of the church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Family was most important to Velma and she thoroughly enjoyed gardening and homemaking. She was retired from Brobeck Enterprises.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn L. Bonzo; son: Roy T. Bonzo; daughter: Susan C. Bonzo; brother: William McIntosh and a sister: Beth Spear.
Velma is survived by her son: Neil G. Bonzo, Sr. and daughter-in-law: Susan “Danette” Bonzo, New Sewickley Township; a daughter-in-law: Flora Bonzo, Corning, NY; seven grandchildren: April Mastrangelo; Bruce (Linda) Bogolea; Kurt Bogolea; Bryce (Michelle) Bonzo; Jennifer (Don) Fessler; Jessica Plymette and Neil (Katie) Bonzo, Jr.; loving great and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and extended family.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A service to remember, honor and celebrate her life will be held at 4 p.m., immediately following the visitation with Rev. Dennis Burnett, officiating. Private Entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
