Born in Massillon, Ohio on August 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Jackson) Gomersall. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Beverly (Jamieson) Gomersall.
He is survived by his daughter Heidi Yoho of Industry, three sons; Robert Jr. of Industry, Scott (Casey) of Rogers, Ohio, and Eric (Sharon) of Tiltonsville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one brother; John (Geraldine) Gomersall, several nieces, a nephew, as well as a very special cousin; Vivian Jackson.
Bob attended Coraopolis school, served in the 28th Division in Germany and before and after his stint in the Army at L.T.V. (J&L) for over 30 years. He served as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop #101 in Coraopolis, and Troop #699 in Economy. Bob was a charter member of Economy Methodist Church and served as Sunday school superintendent. He and his family moved to Farmington, PA in 1980 where he was the first Head Ranger at Heritage Reservation, and then returning to Beaver County in 1991.
Bob was a registered Boy Scout beginning in 1940. He holds the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow (OA) and the Silver Beaver Award from the Greater Pittsburgh Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He served on staff for the National Jamboree at A.P. Hill and staff of Wood Badge 103 and 110.
Services will be under the auspices of the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Viewing will take place on Thursday from 1 pm until the time of funeral services at 6 pm. Private burial will take place Friday at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
