Otto Francis “Butch” Kemper, Jr., 71, of Volant, passed on Thursday, May 2, 2019. He was born September 13, 1947 in New Brighton, son of the late Otto F. and Betty Mae (Wills) Kemper, Sr. Known as Butch by family and friends, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and worked for a number of years with Babcock & Wilcox and St. Joe Minerals. Later he was employed as an assistant manager for Walmart.
In his leisure, Butch enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and occasionally going fishing. He was a Volunteer Fireman with the Borough of Koppel and a Fire Policeman with the Volant Volunteer Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Kathy and Cindy. Butch is survived by his wife, with whom he would have celebrated 49 years of marriage on December 18, 2019, Patricia “Pat” (Hollibaugh) Kemper; his son and daughter-in-law: Terry (Diana) Kemper, Abilene, TX; daughter and son-in-law: Jackie (Sam) Haines, Volant; six grandchildren: Amber (Jordan) Parrish of Abilene and Kelsey Kemper of Abilene ; Kris (Lindsey) Kemper, Ellwood City; Branden, Izaiah, and Paige Haines, all of Volant; three great grandchildren: Sunshyne, Carter and Lillian; and one brother: Robert.
