84 of New Sewickley Twp, passed away on April 23, 2012. She was born March 2, 1928 in Grove City, Pa., daughter of the late David Marion ‘Buzzy” Reed and Mona Mae Moore Reed. She was a graduate of Grove City High School and the Jameson Memorial Hospital, RN class of 1948
Prior to her retirement in 1989, she was employed as an RN at Sewickley Valley Hospital. She was a dedicated member of the Unionville United Methodist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry L. “Bud” Boyd; a son, Bruce David Sockaci, a grandson, David Bruce Sockaci, step grand children, Amelia & Luke Boyd and brothers, Col. Donald M. Reed and Jack Reed.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlet Pelissier-Riddell of Santa Fe, NM and Marilyn R. Yarnell and her busband David of Warrenton, Va ; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Sockaci of New Sewickley, Winston her beloved “furry” son, former husband and friend Raymond Sockaci of New Brighton, step- Children,Marsha McMillen & husband Les, Wayne L. Boyd & wife Regina, Gary A. Boyd and wife Paula and Rick M. Boyd and wife Tina, all of New Sewickley; grandchildren, John E. Rykaczewski of Los Angeles, Ca, Darren Edward Sockaci of East Rochester, Natalie Fratangelli of Aliquippa and Marcus Yarnell of Warrenton, Va.; step grandchildren, Christine Fleissner, Jim McMillen, Shawna Solinger, Teresa Lawrence,
Phillip Boyd, Amanda Chaousy and Jarrett & Brett Boyd. She is also survived by Ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, Inc., 273 Rt. 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in the funeral home with interment to follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice House, 146 Neely School Rd, Wexford, Pa 15090 or Unionville United Methodist Church, 1297 Rt. 68, Rochester, Pa 15074.
