John Kenneth Majors, 85, currently of Greentree, PA, formerly a longtime resident of John Kenneth Majors, 85, currently of Greentree, PA, formerly a longtime resident of Melbourne, FL, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018. He was born March 1, 1932 in Sherman, NY, son of the late Paul Kenneth and Margaret (Moran) Majors. John was a graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1950 and Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA, Class of 1964. For a time, John was employed at the Aliquippa Works of Jones & Laughlin Steel.
Following graduation from Geneva, he enjoyed a long and rewarding 30 year career as a Civil Service, Contract Negotiator with the U.S. Air Force. Although employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and later Patrick Air Force Base, his expertise also resulted in John traveling to oversee projects in Taiwan and South Korea.
While his children were young, he was always involved in coaching Little League Baseball, as well as Youth Football and Basketball. John loved the game of golf and played into his 80’s. He was an avid fan of the Orlando Magic, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Darryl John Majors.
John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Claire Louise (Bush) Majors, whom he married on June 13, 1953. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Daniel Majors, Greentree, PA; Dean and Bernadette Majors, Orlando; one daughter and son-in-law: Dana and Billy Lewis, Youngsville, NC; four grandchildren: Heather (Thiery) Webb; Andrew Lewis; Nathan Lewis; Timothy Majors; two great grandchildren: Henley and Trent Webb; one brother: Paul Edward Majors, Beaver Falls, PA; and his niece: Candice Majors Snare and her husband Bob.
