James “Jim” Green, 76, of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 29, 2011 while under the compassionate care of the staff at Cranberry Place. He was born December 3, 1934 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Edward and Elsie (Jones) Green. Jim proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He retired from the Shipping Department of Pittsburgh Tool, Monaca, after 34 years of service. He served for seven years as a member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department, Station #2. Jim was a faithful member of the Mars Alliance Church where he served as an usher.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Daniel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years: Nancy (Vashaw) Green; one son: Kevin (Margieann) Green, Hampton Township; two daughters: Denise (Ed) Lockney, Columbiana, OH; Melissa Green, New Sewickley Township; four grandchildren: Jocelyn, Nathan, Talyson and Dalton; two great grandsons: Lucas and Jackson; his brother: Samuel (Kathy) Green, Beaver Falls; sister-in-law: Christine Policicchio, Monaca; and his two canine companions: Molly and Lucy.
Friends will be received Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Interment will be private.
In honor of his wishes, a Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Mars Alliance Church, 997 Route 228, Mars, PA 16046. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the church. On line condolences may be offered at www.saul-gabauer.com
