James Eugene Barr, 88, of Pulaski Township, New Brighton passed away at Franciscan Manor on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

Born March 4, 1929, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Paul Eugene and Ethelyn (Blinn) Barr. He was a graduate of New Brighton High School and Geneva College with a B.S. in industrial engineering.

In addition to his engineering career, he was the proprietor of 2 local delis. Jim dedicated over 25 years of service to the Beaver County Red Cross, Brady’s Run Maple Festival; served on the New Brighton School Board, Sunrise Pool committee, and Recreation Board; and was a Pulaski Township Supervisor. He was a life-long Miami Dolphins fan and loved spending time at his site at Moraine Camplands.

Jim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester, American Legion, and proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Jim is survived by daughters Bonnie Chappell, Enon Valley; Kathie (Bill) Roedler, New Brighton; Laurie (Ted) King, St. Cloud FL; grandchildren Raymon Cumberledge; Stephanie King (husband Tim Yoho); great-granddaughter Taylor; brother Terry Barr; special nieces Tammy (Bill) Gray and Pam (Mike) Thellman, as well as extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Paula Jo, sons-in-law Larry Chappell and Marty Sheets, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at noon on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Grace Lutheran Church, Rochester. Friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by the service with Pastor Gregory Clegg officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Beaver County Red Cross, Grace Lutheran Church, or Geneva College.
