Jacqueline “Jackie” (Alexander) Samek, 93, a lifelong resident of New Brighton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her loving husband on June 7, 2018. She was born in New Brighton on August 1, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Rose (Gumpf) Alexander.
Jackie was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Brighton for 80 years. She taught Sunday School for all ages; was a Church Representative; a Circle Leader; and for a time Church Secretary. For over 20 years she hand-made Chrismons (over 200 monograms of Christian Symbols to be hung on a Christmas Tree) and she also visited local churches teaching their meaning, use and their craft construction.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded by her special, loving husband of 69 years: Richard “Dick” (“Pork”) Samek on August 24, 2017; her sister: Hazel Bushless; two brothers: Wilbur and Lester Alexander; two nieces: Jerry Ann Alexander and Marilyn Hammond.
Jackie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Edward (Terry) Samek, Cranberry Township; and her special cousin: Helen Jean Connor, New Brighton, as well as extended family.
Friends will be received on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, following the visitation with Pastor Angela, officiating. Private entombment will follow in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
