Howard N. Hahn, 94, formerly of South Beaver Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in Somerset. He was born on June 17, 1928, in Beaver Falls, PA to the late Howard and Emma (Graham) Hahn.
A graduate of Beaver Falls High School, Howard had worked as a Transportation Specialist for Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit from which he retired.
Howard (nicknamed “Lightning”) proudly served as a First Lieutenant and pilot in the United States Air Force during the Korean War (Pilot Training Class 50-B). During his tenure, he received an Air Medal, Korean Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). After co-piloting B-29s, he served as an Aircraft Commander on a KC-97. Howard continued his passion for flying and flew commercially for a period of time with Allegheny Airlines.
He is survived by his two daughters; Leigh Ann (Ron) Geyer of Somerset, Lisa (Jordi) Kellogg of West Linn, Oregon, six grandchildren, one great- grandchild, and sister; Norma Jean Narad of Beaver Falls.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife; Janet (Shaffer) Hahn, and his daughter; Lori Murphy.
Friends will be received on Saturday, June 10 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. with a service to follow at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, Inc., 273 PA-Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
Howard will be laid to rest next to his wife Janet, at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
