Edward L. "Ed" Drake, a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, a true and loyal friend and an upstanding and wonderful man, age 81, of Raccoon Township, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Born January 16th, 1941 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Frank and Audrey (Stockwell) Drake.
Ed was the true West Virginia man, he loved the mountains, loved hunting and fishing. He was very athletic, having played football in High School, then attending College on a football scholarship. In his later years, Ed enjoyed golfing. Ed had a amazing sense of humor. His career was in education, teaching, coaching, and administration. He always put his students first. He was a life member of the Masons, a Master Mason, achieving a 32nd degree, a lifelong member of Bridgewater Lodge #457. Ed loved his family and friends, but, above all, being strong in faith, he loved God.
He is survived by his wife of over 43 years, Cynthia "Cindi" L. (Barkhurst) Drake of Raccoon Twp.; one daughter, Tara (Alan) Hartle of Valencia; four grandchildren; Connor, Payton, Paxton and Kaleb Hartle, and he will be sadly missed by his best friend and golf buddy, Fred (Anna) Fiumara.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a beautiful daughter, Haeley L. Drake, and three brothers; Bob, Jerry and David Drake.
A private memorial service is being held at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rich Herbster as officiant. Arrangements entrusted to the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
