Dorothy Symonak, 87, of Industry, passed on April 12, 2019 while under the care of the staff at Rochester Manor. Dorothy was born September 18, 1931 in Fallston, daughter of the late Ray Thomas and Margaretta (Hall) Barkfelt.
In her younger days, Dorothy enjoyed water skiing, roller skating and ice skating. She was a very active person and loved to assist the instructors at Brady’s Run Ice Arena as they taught youngsters how to ice skate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Symonak, Jr. in 2012; and her brother: LeMoyne T. Barkfelt.
Dorothy is survived by two brothers: Richard T, Barkfelt, Industry; Larry R. Barkfelt, Beaver and her sister: Leatrice Donovan, Beaver; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today, Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester with a brief service to be held at the conclusion of the visitation. Private entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
