David B. Mooney, 79, of Monaca, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024. He was born on July 31, 1944 to the late Frank and Betty (Emerick) Mooney in Rochester. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila McBrien. Graduated from Beaver in 1962, where he was an outstanding quarterback on the football team and also excelling in both basketball and baseball. After graduating, he attended Clarion University on a football scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He then served from 67 to 69 in the Army as a cryptologist. Dave retired from Phoenix Glass, with over 35 years of service. He had been an avid golfer and a lifelong Steeler and LA Lakers fan. In his later years he cherished spending time with family and his fur baby, Zoe.
David is survived by his wife; Patty Jean (McDanel) Mooney, Sisters: Carol (George) Buch, Kathy (Paul) Hepak, children; Paul (Karen) Mooney, Brighton Township Tracy (Craig) Righter, Pataskala, Ohio Joe (Tuawana) Hickman, Midland Melissa (Tony) Hickman, Baden
Grandchildren: Brandon Masters, Zachary Mooney, Madison Mooney, Kaitlyn Hickman, Riley Hickman, Zachary Thomas, Bailey Baker, Dominique Boyd, Zachary Hickam-Baker, Craig Righer, Abby Righter. Great- grandchildren: Malayah, Ramzie, Remington, Kylen, Nesta, Craigie IV,
Sister and brother-in-law law, Peggy and Jim FitzSimmons (Monaca), Larry and Colleen McDanel (Columbus, Ohio), and Dave McDanel (Columbus, Ohio).
Numerous nieces and nephews that he was so proud of all their accomplishments and the love they gave to him.
Dave thank you for the 23+ years we spent together. You kept your promise and always treated me like a queen. I am fortunate to have all these special memories to get me through the difficult days that are ahead. Always and Forever till we meet again.
As per David’s request services are private and arrangements have been entrusted to the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home 273 Rt. 68 Rochester, PA 15074. Interment will be at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
