Carol Gayle Yurkew, 79, of New Sewickley Township, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2015. She was born September 10, 1935 in Economy Borough, daughter of the late William and Mabel (Barr) Stewart. Carol retired from the Ambridge Area School in 2000 with over 40 years of service as a School Secretary.
She was a woman who appreciated the quiet and simple beauty of life. Pauley the Persian cat, along with Himalayans, Samson and Gabriel II, were her fur babies that she loved so much. Carol also enjoyed tending to the flower garden John had planted for her to nurture. She was a woman of faith and member of Unionville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by twin brothers: Roger and Russell Stewart.
She is survived by her husband: John Yurkew, Jr., with whom she would have celebrated 46 years of marriage this September; one brother and sister-in-law: William and Gladys Stewart, Cabot, PA; one sister: Sarah Bonzo, Zelienople; three nephews: Mark Stewart, Craig Bonzo and Scott Bonzo; one niece: Beth Stewart.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Her pastor, Rev. Doug Myers will officiate. Private interment will follow in the Garden of the Lilies, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
