Betty Jean Nolan, 87, passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 while under the compassionate care of the staff at Passavant Community-Brandywine Household and Catholic Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 16, 1930 in McKees Rocks, PA, daughter of the late Roman and Kataryna (Liechicka) Shahay.
Betty Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her life was centered on her family. She was an accomplished seamstress and a fantastic cook known by her family for her homemade pierogi. Her selfless giving spirit led her to volunteer at Sewickley Hospital for over twenty-two years. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Conway.
In addition to her parents, Betty Jean was preceded by her son: David in 2011; one brother and six sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years: John F. Nolan; two sons and daughters-in-law: Timothy “Tim” and Christina Nolan, Satellite Beach, FL; Christy and Terra Nolan, Livonia, MI; two daughters and sons-in-law: Amy and Dale “Bud” Andrews, New Albany, MS; Carrie and Jack Hartle, New Sewickley Township; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, September 8th at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1000 3rd Ave, Conway, PA 15027 with Rev. Mark Carter, O.F.M. Cap. Celebrant. Everyone is kindly asked to arrive directly at the church on Friday morning. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
