Betty Joan Copeland

Betty “Joan” (Best) Copeland, 87, of Portersville, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was born on March 22, 1936 in Harmony, PA to the late Paul and Margaret (Lintz) Best.

Joan was a member of the Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Grove City.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and working on puzzles. She graduated from the Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a teaching degree. Joan had taught in Memphis, Harrisville, Victory and Ellwood City as an elementary school teacher for many years.

She is survived by her children, Deborah (Charles) Wright of Glenwood, Arkansas; Mark D. Copeland of Slippery Rock; David (Lori) Copeland of San Diego, CA; three grandsons, Westley, Connor (Silina), Duncan; great-granddaughter, Reagan; her brother, Paige Best of Fombell; sisters, Connie (Bill) Tucker of Edinburg; Barbara Aiken of Portersville; and Faith (Jim) Kneale of Severna Park, MD.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Donald O. Copeland; brother, Dexter Best.

Friends will be received on Thursday August 24, 2023 from 1:30 PM till the time of service at 4:30 PM at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home 273 Rt. 68 Rochester, PA 15074.

Joan will be laid to rest at the Memphis Memory Gardens.
