ROCHESTER TOWNSHIP
Anthony “Tony” Rubino, 92, of Rochester Township, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 5, 2013 at Heritage Valley Health, Beaver. He was born February 27, 1921 in Berwind, Colorado, son of the late Samuel and Jenny (Marion) Rubino. Tony graduated from Geneva College with majors in French and History. As a Staff Sgt., he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII in the African and European Theaters as an engineer. He retired from Teledyne Vasco, Monaca after 45 years of service as a millwright and mechanic.
Tony was a member of the National American Legion. He was also a member of Rochester Masonic Lodge 229 F.&A.M., the First Presbyterian Church of Rochester, and served as an officer with the Credit Union. In his leisure, Tony enjoyed woodworking, making furniture and caning chairs.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother Robert; sisters: Annie Barco, Alice Cuccinelli, Rose Rubino and Dorothy Josepovich; and his son-in-law: David Summers.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Ruth (Cossin) Rubino; his daughter: Suzanne Summers, Naperville, IL; and his brother and sister-in-law: Samuel and Dorothy Rubino, Rochester; four sisters and a brother-in-law: Eleanor and Armando Mastroanni, Garden Grove, CA; Betty Flati, Westminster, CA; Florence Podalack, Beaver; Jackie Cicozzi, Monaca; three Cossin family nephews: Jim, John and Ed; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, August 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, August 9th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Rochester with the Rev. Lee Bittner, officiating. The public is asked to arrive directly at the church on Saturday morning. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
