Howard C. McAllister, age 75, died on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, after an arduous battle with cancer. Born on September 23, 1946 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Norman McAllister and Evelyn (Hughes) McAllister.
Howard beamed with pride regarding his US Army Veteran status as he courageously served our country during the Vietnam War. He later retired after twenty-nine years of employment from Kodak, however, the same hard working values that Howard thankfully instilled in his girls got the best of his free-time boredom. Luckily, this monotony led him to a fresh venture at LightFab, where he made further use of his talents and acquired amazing new friends until re-retiring in 2015.
Howard’s primary pastime was hunting, but what he loved most about it was hunting with his wife. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and loved his Fur Babies; Piper, Max and Sammie.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene McAllister with whom he celebrated fifty-one years of marriage on July 29, 2021, two daughters; Julie (Steve) Vasilion and Kristin McAllister, sister; Carol (Kurt) Blakely, brother; Norman (Joan) McAllister, sister: Norma Jean (Jerry) Dolatowski, three grandchildren; MacKenzie, Aiden, Evelyn; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends.
In addition to his parents, Norman and Evelyn, Howard was predeceased by a nephew, Richard Blakely, Brother-in-law, Emil Reis and a nephew, Tom Reis.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Howard’s life that will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home, 2125 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. Visitation will take place from 11am-12pm, when a service of celebration will begin at 12:00pm. All guests are encouraged to wear something moose or hunting related, or their favorite Buffalo Sabres or Buffalo Bills gear, as Howard would not want everyone wearing black! All guests are required to wear masks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Wilmot Cancer Center.
