Ted was born the son of Theodore and Annie (Bolton) Schlenker, in Highland Park, Michigan on February 18, 1938. He graduated from Highland Park High School (’56) and began a successful career as a mechanical engineer with his God given talent. He retired as Chief Engineer and developed six patents for aerospace applications during his long career. Ted moved to Troy, Michigan in 1963 and raised his family. Ted loved boating on Lake St. Clair with his cabin cruiser and was a member of the Poor Man’s Yacht Club. Ted and his wife, Lorraine, loved Florida and spent 17 years as snowbirds in Sarasota, Florida.
Ted is survived by his children Richard (Kim) Schlenker, Robert (Michelle) Schlenker, and Heidi (Jerry) Vigil; stepdaughters, Cathy (Jim) Hughes, Darlene (David) Dunn and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his newly found older half-sister, Helene “Lee” (Bob) Maldegen. Ted was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Lorraine; his parents; and sister's Georgia “Boots” Oakes and JoAnn Bringman.
