Ron was born the son of Wilbur and Edna (Klevgard) Smisek in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 25, 1945. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, class of 1962. Ron earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from General Motors Institute (GMI) and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado. Ron married Marlene on September 18th, 1982 in Rochester, Michigan. He had a successful career with General Motors and was a member of SAE and Mensa International.
Ron loved his wife and family. He was an avid traveler, visiting over fifty different countries throughout the world.
Ron was predeceased by Marlene, his loving wife of over 40 years. He was survived by his step-sons Brian (Diane) Evanson and Jeffrey (Jackie) Evanson; daughter-in-law Karen Evanson; grandchildren Amanda (Tab), Lindsay (Jud), Samantha (Brandon), Jordan (Lindsay), Colin (Keara), Leah (Harrison), and Alyssa; six great-grandchildren; siblings Robert (Meridel) Smisek; nephews Steve, Paul, and Jerry; and many cousins. Ron was pre-deceased by parents and his middle son, Scott Evanson.
Visitation will be held from 10a.m. until Noon on Monday July 17th, 2023 at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 West University Drive, in downtown Rochester, Michigan. A memorial service will immediately follow at Noon. The family will then gather for a private graveside service at Mount Avon Cemetery in Rochester. All are invited to share memories and light refreshments from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the West Wynd Golf Course, 4161 North Adams Road, Oakland Township, Michigan.
