Ronald Paul Mitchell passed peacefully on November 9, 2023. Ron was a proud, loyal, loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was born on August 7, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Allen Park in Michigan at a young age with his family. Ron attended Allen Park High School, participating in sports and developed a love for jazz.
He is survived by his children: Brekynn Rhys, Dana Mitchell Martin (Phil) and Stacey van Meter (Todd), eight grandchildren; Mitchell, Luke, Amber, Ryan, Alicyn, Heather, Hailey, Wyatt and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was patient, accepting, kind and his word was genuine.
At the age of 18 he enlisted in the Navy and served proudly or four years on the USS Forestall, the first super carrier in the US fleet. He joined the drum and bugle choir during his service and traveled off the ship to perform in parades and shows.
At a very young age Ron developed a passion for cars, particularly classic race cars. His favorites were manufactured by Austin Healey. He was the patriarch of the South Eastern Michigan Austin Healey Club (SEMAHC). He loved traveling around the country in his Big Healey to the Conclaves for car shows and road rallies.
He enjoyed working for Ford Motor Company for most of his career. He was a true engineer and could fix anything. He designed and built his home in Goodrich Michigan from the ground up. This is where he lived for 25 years until his health declined. The last two years of his life were spent Bellbrook Retirement Community in Rochester Hills.
He loved sports and especially Michigan Football. He was the team Grandpa for the Adams High School Lacrosse team. He never missed a game or event for his grandsons Mitchell and Luke. Regardless of sun, rain, sleet or snow he was in the stands supporting and rooting them on!
Independent, strong, giving and kind. Ron rarely complained as his health declined.
His love and generosity towards his family will always be cherished and never forgotten.
Love you forever Ronnie Paul!
