Ronald Bruce Burdo, 82, of Crossville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, after a brief illness while traveling. He was born on January 4, 1941, in Perrysburg, Ohio to Glenn Robert Burdo, and his wife, Ila Mae (Pringle).
Ron was raised in Perrysburg and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1958. He joined the Marine Corps upon graduation, and served honorably until discharge in 1961. Upon discharge, Ron enrolled at the University of Toledo where he earned his degree in Finance in the evenings while working full-time on the line for Chevrolet Motor Division at the plant on Alexis Rd in Toledo. He did this while raising a family, David, John, and Laura, with his first wife Barbara.
Upon graduation, Ron moved into the front office at Chevrolet and met the love of his life, Polly. After raising his first family, Ron helped raise Polly’s daughter, Jill. Retiring from Chevrolet with 34 years of service in Toledo and then Detroit, Polly and Ron retired to Fairfield Glade in Crossville, Tennessee. They spent the past thirty years pursing the perfect putt and cruising the world.
Ron had a mischievous sense of humor, and always had a good story. He requested that in lieu of a party, please toast his memory with scotch.
Ron joins his beloved wife of 45 years, Polly, in eternity. He is also pre-deceased by his mother, father, and son, David. He leaves behind his step-daughter Jill, daughter Laura, son John, and sisters Nancy (Bill) Walsh and Kathy (Don) Keller, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the phenomenal medical professionals and staffs at Toledo Promedica Hospital and Hospice of Michigan. Memorials in Ron’s name may be made to Promedica Foundation of Toledo, Ohio, or Hospice of Michigan.
