Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Marianne, children Aaron Grussner (Lori), Kelly Richardson (Matt) and Sarah Roughley (Don Bastien), several grandchildren, sister Nancy Hall (Jay), several nieces and a nephew and many cousins and close friends.
He grew up in Dearborn, MI and graduated from Dearborn High School. Next, he attended Henry Ford Community College and subsequently Michigan State University where he first demonstrated his affinity for sales while working for The State News selling advertisements.
After graduation he started at Xerox where he was able to persuade his future wife, Marianne, to go out with him. He next worked at IBM where he was the top salesman many years running. He took those skills and his entrepreneurial spirit with him into several more businesses including O/E, Lease US, and New Horizons. With a knack for business, he was always willing to help others get their businesses up and running.
The cottage in Tawas was his favorite place to be, enjoying the lake and spending time with family and friends. Fishing was a favorite pastime, one he shared with grandsons Robert and Jack. He also became a skilled woodworker, fashioning many beautiful pieces for his family. During retirement he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and loved talking with the elderly when delivering meals. He also spent many of his retirement years visiting, chatting, and reminiscing with aging friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held on August 31, 2023, at Pixley Funeral Home 322 W. University Drive, Rochester. In lieu of flowers those who wish to make memorial contributions please consider donating to Meals on Wheels Rochester branch or the American Lung Association.
