Norma Jean Guthrie

Norma was born the daughter of Perry and Thrulie (Ringstaff) Reynolds on October 9, 1939 in Lennon, Michigan. She attended Flushing High School. Norma loved music, and taught piano lessons for adult education and private lessons. She enjoyed reading, crochet, genealogy, and astrology.

Norma married Franklin Brookins on September 27, 1958 in Flushing, Michigan. Norma and Franklin raised their family in Roseville, and Franklin preceded Norma in death in 1996. Norma later married Robert Guthrie Jr. on April 12, 2003, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Norma was also predeceased by her parents; her siblings Ray, Blanche, Dorothy, Hazel and Vernie; and son-in-law Leonard Hempel. Norma is survived by her children Sandra (Jim) Stevens, Teresa Hempel, and Perry (Sheila) Brookins, and step-son Robert Guthrie III; grandchildren Angela, Saundra, Patricia, Franklin, Lyla and Alyssa; step-grandchildren Doug and Molly; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Norma’s family will welcome friends and family to a visitation on Sunday December 4, 2022 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and on Monday December 5, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Pixley Funeral Home, located at 322 W. University Drive, in downtown Rochester, Michigan. Interment will follow at Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills.
