Beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather died at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac, MI. He was born in Beedeville, Arkansas August 15, 1935. Son of Marion and Louise Powell. A longtime resident of Rochester, Max graduated from Rochester High School in 1954. An Arkansas State University graduate, Max served in the U.S. Army before moving to Rochester where he worked for National Twist Drill for many years before starting his own business, Max Powell & Associates.
Preceded in death by brother Tom Powell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Nancy, son Darran (Sherri), daughters Susan (Chris) and Patricia. Grandchildren Max, Sadie and Spencer. Brother Bob Powell (Margaret) of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Max will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Michigan fish are breathing a collective sigh of relief at his passing.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Crittenton Hospital ICU and Select Care Hospital of St. Joseph Mercy of Pontiac for the wonderful care and support they gave Max and his family during his illness.
Since some of Max’s best friends were dogs, donations may be made in his memory to the Michigan Humane Society.
Visitation will be held on Friday September 26, 2014 from 4-8pm at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr. Rochester, MI 48307. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday at 9am until the time of the service at 10am at the funeral home.
