Marilyn was born on February 14, 1941 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late George & Esther (Haak) Conrad. In 1958 she graduated from Lutheran High South, and then attended and graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelor's degree in education, becoming a teacher in 1963. While touring Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Utica, Marilyn met the love her of life Roger Miller, and they married on December 28, 1968 at Mt. Greenwood Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL. She taught elementary school at St. John Lutheran School for many years.
She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rochester where she was a Sunday School teacher, an ELS teacher, served on the Board of Sound Ministry where she sang in the choir with both the ladies and seniors, as well as the bell choir. She and her husband Roger participated in several mission trips including a trip to Latvia, where she taught English. She also was part of a mission trip to Bethlehem, Israel where she helped to build the wall.
Marilyn is survived by her sons Andrew and Paul; sister-in-laws Lois Miller, Sharon Conrad, and Geraldine Techel; nieces Sandy (Gordie) Carr, Robyn (Jeff) Newman, Karyn Carter, Lisa (Ed) DePasqual, Candace (Jon) Kilpinen and Christine (Jeff) Williams along with nephews Tim Techel, Tom (Judy) Techel, Dale Techel, and Mark Conrad.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Roger in 2021 along with brothers Allan Conrad and Norman Conrad, and brother in law Cliff Miller.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester. Pastor Steve Grafe officiating. Marilyn will lie in state at the church at 10 am.
The family will also receive friends Friday, April 5, 4 to 8 pm at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive in Rochester.
At a later date, Marilyn will be laid to rest with her husband Roger at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
