We first met Marilyn and Roger when Walter took the call as music director and teacher at St. John. We shared many good times together. She was a faithful friend and loved her Lord. When Walter had his cardiac bypass surgery she sat with me and brought me much comfort. Our friendship continued when we moved to Grand Blanc. Years later we moved to Saint Joseph, to be closer to our oldest son.Our friendship continued through frequent phone calls and emails. I treasured the little notecards she made with flower photographs she took. She and I shared a special love for cardinals and would send each other little gifts that involved the beautiful birds. Marilyn was always encouraging whenever we talked even if she wasn’t feeling so good.. When Walter died, she sent me a photograph of the St. John chancel window with the Crown of Life on it and made as a magnet. “ Be thou faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” And Marilyn was faithful!
         I miss you my dear friend ——— always in my heart!

Marilyn is my favorite aunt. 
She was always there for me. When I was a little boy, before she married, she visited us and we traveled to the beach for a day. I got stung by a bee and my hand swelled up like a baseball. I remember her comforting me that day, and all night. But she also remembered it! A few months ago, she asked me if I remembered (I did very much), then proceeded to tell me about it in vivid detail, even though it was nearly 60 years ago. 
She remembered every time we saw each other over our lives and would frequently reminisce about some fairly mundane (in my eyes) events, many years or decades later. Her memory of past events was probably so astounding because she practiced gratitude and took great joy in the everyday events of life, especially the lives of others. (And perhaps her memory was so good because she saved a memento of every mundane event!) 
I can only remember one birthday when I did not get a card from Marilyn. She, of course, felt bad and apologized – chemotherapy that year threw her game off!
She had one of those rare gifts of faith that carried her through life. Her faith carried a lot of people, like me, when my faith was struggling. She was one of those rare Christians who actually practiced what Jesus taught – to show love to everyone without judgement
Even though I was always 1000+ miles away, throughout my life, and my struggles, I always knew that, if I asked, she would be a rock to lean on, and be there to comfort me.

Marilyn a friend always, when having a conversation with her you knew she was listening, she made eye contact, her facial expression always showed she was listening to what ever you were saying.  I truly honor this woman, her soul shined love, respect, interest & I only regret I didn't have a much longer relationship with her.  So, Marilyn my friend I know your journey to Jesus Christ & Roger is ongoing, I am sure Jesus Christ will say to you "a fine & true life you have led my faithful servant."
