He was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 3rd, 1957 to Fred and Dorothy Thompson. Larry graduated from Andover High School. During his time at Andover he played football where he set many records and was nicknamed Rocky wearing #22 and sporting his white shoes. Larry was skilled in carpentry and applied his talent in the field of construction. He lived for many years in the Barss Residence in Port Huron where he made many friends. More recently he lived in Clarkston at Addington Place where he again endeared himself to many. Larry had a passion for feeding birds and chipmunks, and watching sports.
He is survived by his sons Justin Scott Thompson and Joshua (Kara) James Thompson; grandchildren Jordan and Kasey; siblings Ed (Laura) Thompson, John (Judy) Thompson, Tim (Denise) Thompson, Patty (late Marty) Gilmour, sister-in-law Alicia and beloved ex-wife Anne Tyson, mother of his children. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Mike Thompson.
A visitation for Larry will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. Larry will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Audubon Society or a hospice of your choosing in his name.
