Kathleen "Kitty" Cook

Kathleen Marie Cook (nee Jones), age 67, of Shelby Township passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Kitty was born on February 15, 1955 to Aaron and Margaret (Peggy) Jones. She grew up in Rochester, graduating from Rochester High School in 1973.

She retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years where she worked as a Sewing Machine Operator. After her retirement she enjoyed working at Little Green Apple Hallmark for a number of years.

Always feeling fortunate to retire at a young age, she enjoyed many years of retirement. Her house was the “gathering place” and her family will be forever grateful for all the memories she created. She hosted countless family gatherings where she always loved making fun and unique dishes to fit the occasion. She had a passion for traveling, especially “cruising”; she enjoyed playing Bunco and was part of a group that played monthly; she loved container gardening and nurturing her beautiful flower displays every year.

She belonged to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and was a long-time member of TOPS 1049, Utica. She loved Bob Seger concerts and was an avid Lions fan.

Kitty is survived by her husband, James C. Cook; her Brother Ken (Susan) Jones; Sisters Becky Strong (the late Buck), Vicki Roberts (the late Bill) and Cindy Long (Carl) and Sister-In-Law Ruth Jones (the late Tom); Stepchildren Michael (Karly) Cook and Melissa (Ed Auferoth) Cook, along with their children Zachary, Cecilia and Georgia Cook. She is also survived by 3 generations of Nieces and Nephews and many Cousins who were all very special to her. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Burnes; parents Aaron and Peggy Jones; Brothers Tom Jones and Jerry Jones; Nieces Angie Strong and Nikki King and Nephew Baby Gerald A. Jones Jr.

A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Memories will be shared at 7:00 pm. Hors D’oeuvres will be served until 7:00 pm
