Janet A. Martin

Janet “Jan” Martin (nee Ahern), passed away February 14, 2018 at the age of 72. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 17, 1945 to John and Gladys Ahern. Jan lived a full and exciting life; some memorable events included the few years she was the youngest panelist on the tv show The Quiz Kids and her passion for Country Western dancing where she won herself some awards. She was always there for anyone who was in need of some support or anyone who needed someone to lean on. Jan was a lover of animals, but held a special place in her heart for dogs. Her bubbly and outgoing personality will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Kenneth A. Martin. Jan is survived by her loving daughter, Kelly (James) Randazzo; her dearest granddaughter, Kendall Erin Randazzo; her step-daughter Saundra (Richard) Lashley; her brother, Owen (Mary Jo) Ahern; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Polly May. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 3-8 PM with Sharing of Memories at 7 PM at Pixley Funeral Home in downtown Rochester. During the Sharing of Memories there will be a toast to Jan and the life she has lived. Please join us as we will raise a glass, of grape Kool-Aid, which was her absolute favorite. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 12 PM, with gathering starting at 11 AM until time of service at Pixley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind or to Jan’s beloved granddaughter, Kendall Erin Randazzo’s college fund.
