Gerald McCarthy

Gerald McCarthy, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 26, 2023, in Rochester Hills. He was 75 years old. Gerald was born on March 8, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Yvonne and Harry McCarthy. He was the loving husband of Deborah (Shepard), whom he married on June 26, 1971.

He graduated from Avondale High School and went on to earn an associate's degree from Oakland Community College. He embarked on a successful career as a metal model worker for General Motors, where his dedication and craftsmanship made a lasting impact.

Outside of work, Gerald was a dedicated member of the Avon Township Fire Association, always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need. He found joy in life from his love for hunting, woodworking, and camping. The wilderness was his sanctuary, and he embraced the natural world with enthusiasm and reverence. For 25 years, Gerald and his family found solace and joy on their property up North, creating cherished memories in the heart of nature.

Gerald's legacy lives on through the love and memories he shared with his family. He is survived by his wife Deborah; children, Sean (Heather) McCarthy, Brian (Dana) McCarthy, and Carrie (Anthony) Brennen; grandchildren Destiny, Jeren, Kian, Sophia, Clare, Sean Jr., Keira, and Brinley; and sister, Lynda (Bill) Wilder, who shared in his adventures and created lasting bonds.

He is predeceased by his sister, Amy McCarthy, and his beloved dog Jake.

A visitation for Gerald will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
