Gerald or “Jerry” was born to Warren and Eva Barr, in Detroit, Michigan, on May 3, 1938. Jerry spent his childhood in Detroit, and graduated from Denby High School, in the Class of 1956. After graduating, Jerry went into the automotive tool & die industry, ultimately co-owning a company called Cavity - Craft, Inc. Jerry met the love of his life, Karen in 1962, and the two were married on November 30, 1963. Jerry and Karen spent 61 incredible years together and had two sons: Steven and Christopher.
Jerry was an avid golfer and a member at Red Run Golf Club for over 50 years. He had a deep love for Harsens Island where he maintained a cottage on the Middle Channel for 50 years; he began going there in the 1940s at the age of 8 years old and was a bartender at Brown's Bar in the late 1950s, he and Karen even honeymooned there in 1963. Jerry also enjoyed duck hunting, pheasant hunting, boating, and bowling. He once bowled two perfect 300 games within weeks of each other — at the age of 83 thereby earning himself the attention of local news media. Above all else, Jerry loved his family and would do anything for them.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Karen Barr, their sons: Steven Barr and Christopher Barr, granddaughter, Lauren Barr, and brother Roger Barr.
A visitation for Gerald Barr will be held on Wednedsay, March 26, at Pixley Funeral Home, Rochester, beginning at 12:00 PM, until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held following visitation, at 2:00 PM.
