DOROTHY “Dottie” MARIE PATTEN, age 76, of Oakland Township, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Crittenton Hospital. Dorothy was born on January 24, 1941, in Teaneck New Jersey, daughter of the late Warren and Marie (Schwarz) Demerest. She graduated from Riverdale High School in New Jersey and moved to Livonia, Michigan when she was 18 years old. On January 21, 1961, Dorothy married William Patten in Redford. William and Dorothy moved to Shelby Township where they raised their family, and later she and William moved to Oakland Township. She loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed caring for her yard and the many birds that visited. The family also greatly enjoyed camping together. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband William in 1999, 2 brothers, Bill and Bob Demarest. She is survived by her children Tracy (the late Dean) Roose and Kim (Mark) Merola; grandchildren Jake (Alex) Roose and Sarah Roose, Michael, John, Jeff and Brad Merola; great- grandchildren Addison and Barrett; her sister Linda (Rick) Kelm; her sister-in-law Brenda Demarest; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 620 Romeo Road, Rochester. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the 11:00 a.m. service. The family will also receive friends Friday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Drive, Rochester.
