Dave was born the son of Ralph and Hermeoine (Warner) Parker in Flint, Michigan on November 22, 1942. He graduated from Flint Central High School, class of 1960, and attended Mott Community College. Dave joined the US Marine Reserves while still in high school and served for seven years. Dave married Carol Hammond on May 14, 1966 at Trinity Methodist Church in Flint. He had a career with General motors spanning 38 years, retiring in April 2001.
Dave, who was also known as Corky growing up, loved being around his family and friends. This included going up north, fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren. Dave married the girl who lived across the street from his childhood home, and they were together for 57 years.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Parker; loving dad of Mike (Molly) Parker, Lorie (John) Markey; proud and loving grandpa and papa of Jake Parker, Nick Parker, Justin Markey, Sydney Markey; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Parker, brother-in-law, William (Patti) Hammond, sister-in-law, Patricia (Tom) Bishop.
Dave’s family will welcome all to a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s honor to St. John Lutheran Church, Love for Others Fund. Envelopes will be available at the service.
