Cheryl Heckel

Cheryl Jean Heckel, of Rochester Hills, passed away on December 13, 2018 at the age of 72. She was born in Detroit to her loving parents William and Madeline Stein on July 15, 1946. She was a proud graduate of Finney High School. She married Dennis Heckel, the love of her life, on June 21, 1969. She was an avid volunteer, working at the Older Person Commission, with Meals On Wheels, Rochester Food Bank, and Crittenton Hospital. She was known for her skill in gardening, using her green thumb to bring life to her yard and the church garden.

She is survived by her husband; her children Jennifer (Chris) Hocking and David (Kendahl) Heckel; grandchildren Elise, Mckayla, Owen, and Joel Hocking and baby Heckel expected in May. She is predeceased by her parents and sister Sue Hatcher.

A visitation will be held from 4PM to 8PM on December 19, 2018 at Pixley Funeral Home located at 322 W. University Dr. Rochester, MI 48307. On December 20, 2018 there will be a visitation starting at 10AM at University Presbyterian Church located at 1385 S. Adams Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48309, with a service being held at 11AM followed by a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a memorial contribution to one of Cheryl’s favorite charities: Gleaners Community Food Bank, Samaritans Purse, Smile Train, or Rochester Neighborhood House.
