Carmelo Rosario, 75, of Waterford, Michigan passed away on October 1, 2022. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico on April 30, 1947. Carmelo was a very proud graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned his Bachelor of Communications. In addition, he earned an Associate Degree from Oakland Community College. He married his wife Estrella (Star) Rosario on April 4, 1975. Carmelo was the executive producer of video services for General Motors for 30 years. He proudly served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Army, earning two Purple Hearts during his time there. Through his life he had many interests and passions including: a truly diverse range of music, sports (especially soccer), chess, playing softball, billiards, and engaging others in intellectual conversations. He enjoyed indulging in a variety of cuisines, especially Korean and his native Puerto Rican, and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Estrella, his parents Tiburcio and Susanna Rosario, and siblings Olga, Michael, and Robert Rosario.
Carmelo is survived by his children Dario Rosario, Chessa (Thomas) McCaughey, and Alisa Rosario; grandchildren James, Jackson, and Bruce; siblings Milo (Finin) Rosario, Irma Arroyo, Rafi (Carlos) Rivas, Ida (Rafael dec.) Gonzalez, Tiburcio Rosario Jr, Joseph (David) Rosario, Sue (Christie) Rosario, Jorge (Zohe) Rosario, Manuel Rosario, Olivia (Palomino) Schropshire, Gloria (Jose) Garcia, Pollyanna Rosario and Julio (Rachelle) Rosario.
A visitation for Carmelo will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pixley Funeral Home, 322 W. University Dr., Rochester, Michigan 48307. Following the visitation will be a funeral at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Vietnam Veterans of America charity.
